Officially Part of the Tripawds

Today, at 5pm Zeus was discharged after his operation, we couldn’t believe our eyes, he came hopping towards us with a big smile on his face, he headed straight for the door, he didn’t want to hang around for a chat with the vet.

All reports so far seem good, the vet said that they were really please with how the amputation went, also said that Zeus was up and about pretty much 1st thing this morning, with the assistance of the nice vet nurses he went out back to relieve himself a few times, even navigated the few steps without much assistance.  After a chat with the vet we were sent home with our brave boy & a few bags of pills.

It’s been a big two days for Zeus and after little sniff around he got up on the lounge for a little snooze, he was dreaming as he usually does with legs running on invisible ground, tail going 100 miles an hour and is still asleep now with Paul right by his side.

We know we still have a way to go and I’m still worried about him getting around but we are just happy to have Zeus home with us and think his happy to be home, more importantly he dosnt have that nasty pain in his paw any more.

I'm back

home is for healing! glad zeus is back with his family and is recovering nicely. there may be a few ‘bumps’ in the road, but paws crossed that he continues to improve daily and remains his happy joy-filled self!

Wonderful! He looks really good sitting there, like he’s in the moment and not spaced out as the pain meds tend to do. Don’t be scared if it seems like he crashes in the next few days. I think that’s typical for some dogs. My Roxy came home all bright eyed and hopping around, but then seemed to do a little worse for a few days. My vet said it was because when she came home she still had the good stuff in her system the vet gave in her IV. Once that wears off, the euphoria tends to dip. But he’s had a terrific start! And here’s hoping it’s all good from here on out! BTW, LOVE the color of your couch. I could never pull it off in my home, but blue is my favorite!

    Hooray for being pain free!

Some dogs experience a bit of a “crash” a few days post surgery, after the “high” of coming home/the Heavy Duty pain meds at the vet’s office, so don’t be surprised if there are a few steps back. Sometimes it’s forward, then back, but most dogs do quite well after about the 2 week mark.

He looks great! All the best and keep us posted,
